You must have been sleeping under a rock for the past few months if you haven't noticed the hype surrounding Pokémon Go. Why don’t you ask the people in Kijkduin about this fad – but don’t be surprised when you end up involuntarily fleeing this district of The Hague real soon.

Augmented Reality
Nevertheless, for those who had other things on their minds: Pokémon GO is a game for smartphones, that uses Augmented Reality and GPS to project animations on images of the smartphone camera. Players have to look for the virtual Pokémon, catch them and then train them.

The characters can be found in many places in the real world and due to the popularity of the game this can lead to quite the commotions, when hordes of gamers are looking for a rare Pokémon in a specific location. With all its consequences...

3D Printing
Just like in the game, the Pokémon characters are also in "real life" very popular with the result that stuffed animals, dolls, etc. are sold out almost everywhere. And this is where the 3D printer comes into play, as you can order your 3D printed dolls ready-to-use, print your own 3D files at a 3D print shop or...of course, print the Pokémon yourself!

So if you have a 3D printer and you want to print Pokémon, then check out the website "Root of Evil Studios". There they have Nintendo-approved and very detailed 3D models of nearly all Pokémon free for download. These are suitable for Blender, Maya, Autodesk, Cinema4D and many more and they are supplied with a manual on how you can put them in desired poses. The models are available as .obj files and are thus easy to import and convert. The printing itself is then a piece of cake!

The download list with all 719 available Pokémon can be found here.
