The Dutch Ultimaker 2+ is the successor of the popular Ultimaker 2. The Ultimaker 2+ is equipped with a heatable printbed, supports PLA and ABS, can print up to a resolution of 20 micron and prints at a speed of 24 mm3/s.
The Ultimaker 2+ is produced by a Dutch manufacturer Ultimaker, which has earned its respect within the 3D printing community. The Ultimaker 2+ launched in January 2016.
The Dutch producer Ultimaker has undergone a lot of growth in the last years and employs at this point almost 2,000 people worldwide. Thus Ultimaker is a considerable business, certainly for the 3D printer market. In September 2016 Ultimaker has received an investment of 15 million in order to grow further.
The Ultimaker 2+ is a user-friendly 3D printer with nonetheless a wide range of capabilities. The calibration process of the 3D printer is fast and easy and thus removes a lot of worries for the user.
The Ultimaker can print with a resolution from 20 micron (0.02 mm) to 600 micron (0.06 mm).
Printbed & build surface
The Ultimaker 2+ has a heatable printbed and a build surface of 8.8 x 8.8 x 8.1 inches (223 x 223 x 205 mm). The Ultimaker 2+ has an open filament system, meaning that it will be able to handle most types of filaments (also from 3rd parties). The most used materials are PLA, ABS and PET. But the Ultimaker 2+ also doesn't shy away from wood, copper, bronze and Flex filaments.
The Ultimaker 2+ is delivered ready-to-use, thus you can get to work immediately. Before the Ultimaker 2+ is delivered to you, the manufacturer makes a test print and makes a check of all the electronics.

With the completely new feeder it is now possible to easily change print materials. The new feeder also ensures that exactly the right amount of pressure can be applied on your print material.
The Ultimaker 2+ has per standard the option to more easily exchange nozzles. The Ultimaker comes per standard with four nozzles in order to allow even more accurate or faster printing. The exchangeable nozzles of the Ultimaker 2+ versions are the most important difference between the Ultimaker 2.
Optimized air streams
The complete cooling system of the Ultimaker 2+ is new and with it the prints will be perfectly cooled. This results in even smoother finishes of your prints.
Smarter control Controlling the Ultimaker 2+ is easy, due to the innovative Clickwheel, the optimally readable display and the built in SD card reader.
Every Ultimaker comes with the free software Cura. Cura is Ultimaker's own software, that the company has made open source. Cura is one of the most well-known and well-used slicer software packages at the moment and is especially user-friendly. The software runs on the following operating systems Windows, Linux and Mac. All common 3D formats such as STL, OBJ, DAE AND AMF are seamlessly usable. This allows you more flexibility in the choice of software you want to use for producing 3D models.
With the integrated card reader your modeled 3D objects can be directly read from your SD card and be directly printed on the device. The display lets you see status-relevant information during 3D printing. Uploading of prints from the computer to the printer is by the way also the most secure method, because interruptions during printing are prevented.
The Ultimaker 2+ is a noiseless printer and is so silent that only the cooling fans of the printhead (extruder) are hearable when the device is printing on low speed. This Ultimaker 2+ is thus excellent for use in most rooms, even at the office and inside the house.
