ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) is used all over the world for a large number of applications and is especially known for its excellent mechanical properties. Ultimaker's ABS filament is especially composed for minimalizing warping and for ensuring a consistent adhesion between layers. Because of this, creating functional prototypes and complex end-products becomes very easy with the ABS filament of Ultimaker.
ABS is impact resistant, dimensionally stable and resistant against temperatures of up to 185 °F (85 °C). This makes it a good choice if you want to produce mechanical parts. Ultimaker ABS is strong and durable and one of the easiest to use filaments on the market. One of the Ultimaker 3D printers combined with the material profiles in the 3D software Cura, makes even difficult mechanical parts easy to produce.
- ABS has excellent mechanical properties
- Excellent adhesion between the layers
- The printed object is resistant against temperatures of up to 185°F
- For printing of strong prototypes and parts for end-use
- Ultimaker ABS is designed for minimal warping
Ultimaker ABS is less suitable for objects that will be in contact with food. Also prolonged exposure to UV light is inadvisable and the printed object is not able to handle high temperatures above 185 °F.
Ultimaker's ABS can be used among others for:
- Concept models
- Gadgets and figurines
- Show models
Ultimaker's ABS filament is delivered on a spool with 1.7 lb (750 gram) thermoplastic material with a diameter of 2.85 mm. The filament is available in a large variety of colors, like:
- ABS Black (RAL 90170)
- ABS White (RAL 9003)
- ABS Red (RAL 3020)
- ABS Blue (RAL 5002)
- ABS Silver (RAL 9006)
- ABS Pearl Gold (RAL 1036)
- ABS Green (RAL 6018)
- ABS Orange (RAL 2008)
- ABS Yellow (RAL 1023)
- ABS Grey (RAL 7011)
Ultimaker uses an open filament system, meaning that you can also use 3D print materials of other suppliers. Nonetheless, the filaments of Ultimaker often produce the best results.
